The Art of Conversation at the National Gallery, Singapore

Hosted as a collaboration between Deutsche Bank Wealth Management and Frieze, this event is part of an exclusive series hosted for art collectors and enthusiasts.

Deutsche Bank hosted world-renowned artist Adrian Villars Rojas in Singapore for the first Deutsche Bank x Frieze Art of Conversation event held in Asia.

Taking place shortly after Frieze Seoul, Deutsche Bank brought of a slice of Frieze to Singapore with the latest event in our Art of Conversation series, held at Singapore’s landmark National Gallery on September 13, 2023.

Launched last year at the Venice Biennale, the Art of Conversation is a series of talks, presenting dialogue with leading artists to explore the most topical issues in contemporary art.

The conversation with Argentinian artist Adrian Villars Rojas, and moderated by Singapore Art Museum curator Puay Khim Ong, was a fascinating insight into the artistic process for the artist’s sculptures.

Rojas is an award-winning Argentinian artist recognised for his fantastical large-scale sculptures that confound one’s sense of time and space. His work is exhibited across the globe, from the Louvre to MoMA.

The Deutsche Bank Collection proudly features three pieces of Adrian’s work.

With our APAC EMEA and Germany CEO and Member of the Management Board Alexander von zur Muehlen, our Head of Emerging Markets Marco Pagliara welcomed guests, speaking about strength in the regional connectivity of our global network and the bank’s commitment to art.

Alexander von zur Muehlen emphasised the importance of art as the bank celebrates its 20th anniversary as global lead partner with Frieze, the leading platform for modern and contemporary art.

“Deutsche Bank is committed to supporting the rapid growth in talent and interest in art across the Asia Pacific region,” he said.

Pagliara added: “As a global wealth manager, we view art not only as an expression of society, but also as an aesthetic asset, and offer solutions like art financing.”

The Art of Conversation in Singapore is the sixth event since it was launched last year during the Venice Biennale. Further events in the series are planned for 2023, both in Italy and abroad.
